| THE SMITHSONIAN CAME TO WINSLOW!! In the summer of 2008, Old Trails Museum hosted a six-week run of "Between Fences"-- a traveling exhibit for rural museums that is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Arizona Humanities Council. This program is made possible through the support of the U.S. Congress and various philanthropic foundations. In addition, a grant from the Arizona Council on the Arts helped make possible a performing arts program that showcased seven local artists and groups. If you missed it, please check out photos from the site below. www.snowdriftart.com/BetweenFenceedit.html. |
| Old Trails Museum is proud to have a presence on the Arizona Memory Project (AMP), an online repository sponsored by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. Our offerings include: "Old Trails Collection Highlights" showcasing a sampling of seven exhibits with 51 items; "Trading Post Families of Winslow" featuring individuals who helped settle our part of the Frontier; "Indigenous Peoples Near Winslow" containing images of Native Americans from the surrounding area. For railroad buffs, the AT&SF Railway Company Collection offers hundreds of images. Thousands visit these collections each month, and we plan to add several more. Go to http://azmemory.lib.az.us. |
Winslow's many historic elements are highlighted at the Old Trails Museum. Visitors can view displays about the Santa Fe Railroad, Ranching, Trading Posts and Route 66. Collections of prehistoric Native American artifacts, fossils, historic medical, dental, optometrist, and mortuary instruments are among many other exhibits. The museum is located in the heart of downtown Winslow across from the world famous Standin' on the Corner Park on Old Route 66. |
